Review: Eyeko Cheeky Colour Blush Duo My Coral Crush + Giveaway

Similarly to my Graffiti Eyeliner Pen Review & Giveaway, I wound up with a few of the Eyeko Cheeky Colour Blush Duos in the shade My Coral Crush and thought I would review and giveaway the extras.

At $14 USD, this Limited Edition (according to the Eyeko site at least) blush seems a bit high for brand that seems more in line with drugstore prices, but for the much lower price I paid during one of Eyeko's epic grab bags, I got it a bit cheaper (though I also wound up with a few of the same color).

Anyway, enough talking, more picture showing.

The packaging is very cute, though one of my boxes got a little bent during shipping (since I'm awesome, those that win will get much more pristine boxes).

The blush is housed in a pretty bulky plastic packaging, it's thicker on the bottom as there is a brush on the bottom, even though Eyeko recommends that you use a fan brush. My Coral Crush/Peachy Kenny is a slightly more reddish coral shot through with gold shimmer. It is quite intense and pigmented and a little goes a long way.

The brush is a piece of crap (sorry Eyeko!). It's scratchy and mine was bent and really unruly.

Let's just say it isn't something I would want to put on my face. I'd rather have smaller packaging than the large lower portion holding a shoddy brush.

You can see how pigmented the powder is. It kind of reminds of the same sort of texture (even though it's not technically a baked mineral powder product) of the MAC Mineralized Blushes or the more pigmented skin finishes.

I actually tried comparing it to the infamous MAC Stereo Rose Mineralized Skinfinish. The Eyeko is a much stronger pink coral base but the gold sheen is very similar. They aren't dupes by any means and I actually find the Eyeko a bit more flattering as a full-on cheek color.

MAC on the left and Eyeko on the right. You can see they kind of have the same effect when swatched (not the same color). I may dig around and see if it is a dupe for anything, I bet it is a dupe for one of the Mineralized Blushes or Skinfinishes as the effect and texture are similar (though MAC is a tiny bit softer).

This was applied before my husband and I went to lunch (sushi yum!) and it has lasted fairly well on my cheeks, however, let it be known my cheeks are on the drier side and most blush stays just fine throughout the day. I did touch it up a little to make it more vibrant for these photos since my camera seems to wash out any cheek color I have on!

Review: Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner Pen + Giveaway

Back when Eyeko was having their grab bag specials, I made some orders and let's just say I now have quite a few of these graffiti eyeliner pens. Anyhow, I figured I'd test them out as they have been quite popular all over the blog world (and give away the extras).

The Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner pens come in 3 different colors: black, navy ∓ purple and retail for $8 a piece. However, they often have special deals where you can grab their products to up to 50%. I am going to be reviewing the purple one but I gather as they are the same packaging, they will all perform about the same (other than intensity of pigment I suppose).

The pen features a pretty firm nib (only the very tip of it has a little give when applying the product). Sorry mine is dirty as it's been used!

The purple color itself is not too bright and fairly neutral as purples go. It definitely stops from being too red or plummy. You may be able to see with my swatch "art" that the pigment varies depending on the pressure put on the pen and it can sometimes go on a bit patchy. It's not horrible but it's not super opaque on the first swipe.

However, as longevity is concerned, the Eyeko Graffiti Pen excels. This was after rubbing vigorously with eye makeup remover. It didn't budge rubbing it with a slightly wet paper towel (so I didn't even bother taking a picture as it looked exactly as after I did my little drawing.

My only qualm with this product is the fact that the pen is very firm and does not allow give as you line along your eye. I find pens or eyeliners that give a little make drawing a wing a whole lot easier. The Eyeko pen did skip trying to wing out my liner and I had to fix it with some eye makeup remover. I also have an easier time applying liner with the pencil or pen at almost a horizontal and doing that with this one just applying too much product as you can't apply a thin liner at an angle (I hope that makes sense!).

Anyway, I still managed to get a nice eyeline and wing without too much hassle but if you are just starting out with winging your liner, you might want to use a slightly more flexible pen or brush. Notice that it is not super bright though admittedly I used a very thin line and drew it very close to the lashline.
