Finally!

Urban Decay Primer Potion, a love of most makeup enthusiasts. But I think we all hate the packaging. Sure, the genie bottle is cute, but you wind up wasting so much product. So I think all of us had an instant smile on our faces when we discovered the new squeeze tube primer potion has made its way to Sephora.
The squeeze tube comes in at a monster .85oz  for $29 and is said to be available for a limited time. I have however heard that Urban Decay will be coming out with a smaller tube in the near future, though don't quote me on it!

Urban Decay @ Hautelook Today!

One of my biggest irks with posting about sample sale sites is posting about a sale only to find out that either the prices aren't something I'd actually pay or the inventory isn't very good. I had chosen not to post about the Stila sale at Hautelook that started a couple of days ago, but the stock actually turned out to be decent (though I didn't partake). So, it's with bated breath, that I post about the Urban Decay sale today. I hope it's good!

Hot For Fall? Or Fail?

I'm not sure what the editors over at Sephora were thinking when they said "texture" (see middle picture) would be in for fall. On the catwalk, maybe, but who actually wants to look like they smeared something resembling crusty eyeshadow on their eyes?

What are your thoughts? Would you consider wearing this out of the house?

Wet n Wild Coloricon Pencil Liners

After seeing the new Coloricon pencils or shall I say, pencil, over at Shakeup Your Makeup, I knew I had to at least look for them at my area CVS. Well, I totally lucked out. Not only did I find the majority of the line, but until tonight anyway, the Wet n Wild line is BOGO 50% at CVS, so I was able to get each pencil for only 75 cents a piece (not that the retail price at 99 cents is a lot either).
Swatches are:
white, amethyst, olive, charcoal, dark brown & deep blue

I haven't worn these out of the house yet, but something tells me they are not going to be long-wearing, as the swatches were easily taken off with a piece of paper towel. However, even with that, these are so soft and creamy, a huge improvement from the old Wet n Wild eye pencil line! I hope they do a similar formula for some lip pencils (I hate the formula of those, they hurt to apply!).

PS As much as I love that these are shrink wrapped, that stuff was insanely hard to get off!

Have you tried these yet? Are you going to try and find them now?

Update: I just read in the weekend circular that Wet n Wild is also on sale BOGO 50% this coming week!

Weekend EOTD

Yes, I wore this out this weekend. I actually left the house on the weekend (again!) first to mail a package and then I picked up a few things from Target (nothing exciting, just some groceries). I though I would share my "eye of the day" - review coming soon on Beauty Debutante of this particular range.

Oh you want to know what these pretty pigmented colors are, dontcha? Well, you'll just have to be patient and wait till the post goes live on Beauty Debutante (I'll be sure to link it as always). I can't claim to be nearly as mean as Pink Sith with her "Taupes You Can't Have" series, well at least I'll let you know what the mascara and eyeliner were.

Base Urban Decay Primer Potion
Mascara Cargo
Milani Liquif-Eye metallic eye liner pencil in brown
and "mystery" eyeshadows

This was quick and kind of messy but I wanted to do something dramatic since my life has been boring and I never go anywhere besides the office.

NOTD: OPI Princesses Rule! + Nailene

I finally got to sit down and do my nails. My back has been causing me a few issues while seated for way longer than I expected it to, and I'll admit, I looked a bit funny trying to stand up just now - back to bed for me! But I have had bare nails for ages and I hate that! "Beauty is pain" as they say. Anyway, I don't feature OPI very much on this blog only because I'm not the biggest fan of the brush, I like that it's wide but it deposits way too much color and goes a little floppy on me and I don't "clean up" my nails. I'm impatient enough as it is! However, I'm willing to make an exception for certain colors, and between the glass-fleck glittery-ness and the name of this polish, I had to have it!

Princesses Rule! Is a very pale very sheer glass flecked pink. I wish it was a little more pigmented as this was 4-ish coats? I lost track. You can still see VNL (visible nail line) but as you've read in the past, I don't really mind that all that much.
Pretty, huh?
Since Nailene recently sent me a whole bunch of stuff to try out, I decided to have some fun! Now, I think there's a very fine line between tasteful and over the top nail art, and knowing me, I was in danger of crossing it with all the pretty shapes so I only did one nail.
I used a larger blue flower and a smaller light blue floral and a little stud. These were very easy to put on, but I wish I would have used a pair of tweezers in lieu of my fingers, but it still worked out alright. I covered my nail with another coat of my topcoat for good measure.

I think it's cute and I like how easy it is. I know a lot of bloggers and nail enthusiasts on makeupalley are really into Konad, but I honestly don't have the patience for it. I bought the Essence set for under $5 and I've used it... once! I'm glad I didn't invest in the pricier kits. I think I'll be sticking with stickers if anything!

Disclosure: Nailene sent the stickers for review. I bought the polish.

Susan Posnick Cosmetics @ Billion Dollar Babes

It seems like it's been eons since Billion Dollar Babes had a beauty-related sale on their site! Today, Susan Posnick's cosmetics are up to 50% off

"After 20 years as a makeup artist to the stars, Susan Posnick learned a thing or two about cosmetics. Sadly, Susan was hit with a new challenge - skin cancer. Her next undertaking began with the development of a product with substantial sun protection that wouldn't feel too heavy or melt in heat. Susan Posnick Cosmetics was born, and we love the high-quality, innovative products and portable packaging as much as we love their creator."

Meredith over at Retro Divas Beauty has a whole series on the brand if you're interested in checking them out!

Disclosure: This post includes a referral link.

I ♥ Swagbucks

I've mentioned Swagbucks a couple times here on Jeweled Thumb. If you haven't heard of the site before, it's a search engine that will randomly award points when you search that can then be redeemed for things like gift cards, entering sweepstakes and other prizes. The last time I checked, they had quite a few beauty related gift cards, including Amazon, Target and Sephora. You can even exchange your Swagbucks for cash linked to your paypal account!

I was recently asked to join their blogger network and they are offering a special code if you're new to signing up on the site.

"As a bonus to your readers, if they enter the code BackToSchool while signing up before 11:59pm PDT on Sunday, August 15 they'll receive an extra 40 Swag Bucks when they sign up, giving them a grand total of 70 out of the gate."

FYI Swag codes are usually case sensitive!

Disclosure: This post includes a referral link. I'm not receiving any monetary compensation for letting you know about the site. I've been using it for years and love it!

Giveaway "Haul"

I won a giveaway! Guys, I hardly ever win anything, so I wanted to share my amazing loot from the wonderful Yummy411!

Speaking of which, ladies that won my giveaway, I'm still trying to figure out what to do with that. I haven't forgotten about you.

Anyway, loot.
The giveaway was sponsored by Cover Girl so I got a few products of theirs as well as a makeup bag. Makeup Master indeed. And a Walmart giftcard that's currently in my purse.

Thank you Yummy411!

Anyway, I'm beat and I apologize for the lack of posts this week. I just started physical therapy and it is exhausting me. It's not even 6pm and I could easily go to bed now.

I'm Over @ Beauty Debutante Today!

I'm guest blogging at Beauty Debutante today! It's my first post on the site, and as you can tell, I'm quite excited to be part of it. If you haven't already checked out Beauty Debutante, you're missing out, with such favorites as Elvira and Joey from Pink Sith, Aly from The Gloss Managerie and Amy from Café Makeup among others. Go check it out; it involves me talking about my hair again (are you really surprised?).

Aromaleigh Ciao Italia Collection

A fittingly named collection for the very last one from Aromaleigh. Ciao Italia is an Italian inspired collection so the names are Italian. Molto benne!

Anyway, I'm honestly sort of surprised I managed to swatch/photograph these without destroying my kitchen. Gosh, I really now respect the work some of the great swatchers do. This ain't easy work, folks!

All pictures are clickable, each set was taken in natural and artificial light to show complexity and sparkle. They were all swatched dry over no base and patted instead of swiped.

I also think the pink and reds in the #70 series are really nice, I'll probably be mixing them with clear gloss for my lips, not sure I'm adventurous enough to use them on the eyes!

The one I was most disappointed with was #34 biscotti - pretty much all glitter.

You can buy samples and full sizes of the line over at the Aromaleigh blog while stock lasts.

Pretty Random Hair

Today my hair was feeling a little like dry wool (I've been shampooing everyday testing out a haircare line), you know those scouring pads you get to really clean your (not non-stick) pots and pans? Yup, scratchy, wool like, Goldwell Conditioning Spray to the rescue. This is stuff I love but I'm scared to use cause it's limited edition and I never did find it at my neighborhood ULTA. I just used about 1/5 of the bottle, I'm going to apply some more, because my hair seems to love this stuff, it's now much softer, but still kind of scary. Anyway, I showed everyone following me on twitter (which if you aren't yet you should), but I thought maybe some of you would be amused to see my coiffure again? If not, ignore me.

A remarkably striking resemblance to Cousin It if he got a perm, am I right (in the 2nd picture, my face is somewhere in the middle of the mass of hair)? =)

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.

Review: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstain

I finally have a new-ish product to show you guys from the drugstore for review! Maybelline lippies are on sale this week 2 for $10 and then $3 back in Extrabucks making it almost silly not to pick something up (I don't think this is supposed to be part of the sale, but it range up as $5 and I see it in my "amount towards this reward" on the bottom of my receipt)! Also a general PSA, the Pearl collection, though in the regular display at my CVS was ringing up $3.75 and wasn't counting towards the $10 which means I need to go back to hit the right amount (no complaints here)!

The Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstain comes in felt tip pen housing .1 oz of product and retails for $6.99 - not too shabby since the long wear lipcolors come in at $9.99 (prices obviously vary a bit by location). I picked up the color Blushing which looks very similar to my natural lip color, a bit "my lips but better". One of my problems I have is that my upper lip is slightly lighter than my lower one so getting a little help is always appreciated. One of the things I like is that there is a whole range of colors, most brands usually put out a limited amount of lipstain shades or as I've heard with the Revlon ones, they all look the same once applied anyway! Maybelline has 8 including a nude color.

The tip disperses just the right amount of product, I was able to easily blend the color on my lips so there wasn't any patchiness, but be careful, this does dry down fairly quickly. I also found that it wore down evenly, though it doesn't have the best lasting power (it didn't survive dinner), but no outer ring of product after eating, a definite plus! Obviously, since it's a lipstain, it's a bit drying, but adding a bit of gloss or balm on top solves that and I didn't experience any flakiness after wearing the stain. It also smells like raspberry jolly ranchers, yum!
Blushing applied full on (left) and blended (right)

All in all, I was really impressed with this lipstain, especially for the price. I hope it doesn't dry out quickly like many tip pens do. I think I may even pick up another color to try. I'm eying Wink of Pink next!

Have you tried the Maybelline Color Sensational lipstains or are you going to be trying them before the sale ends tomorrow?

Deborah Lippmann @ Gilt Today!

If you know me at all, you know I'm slightly infatuated with pretty polishes, but I've never quite ventured into the Deborah Lippmann brand primarily because of the price. At $18 a pop, they aren't what you would call inexpensive.

Deborah Lippmann will be at Gilt today starting at 12pm EST. Who else is hoping Happy Birthday (pictured above) makes an appearance? Hopefully the sale will get more than this in my Deborah Lippmann "label" on Jeweled Thumb!

Will you be taking part?

Tarte Friends & Family & New Rewards Program

There's quite a bit of interesting news on the Tarte front.

First of all, Tarte is having their Friends & Family sale, which gives you 40% off with the code FFAUG and the option of a free gift with purchase (code good from today through August 9th).

Second of all, Tarte has jumped on the rewards program bandwagon (yay!). Every dollar spent will earn you a Tarte Token. After reaching 100 tokens, you are eligible to receive a free deluxe sample with every order. After 500 tokens, you receive a $50 e-gift card from Tarte and if that's not all, you receive a free gift as well as 20% off on your birthday! You can also receive tokens by writing reviews on tarte.com (max of 10 tokens per month) as well as referring friends and family to the new program (10 tokens per friend after first order).

Not too shabby and pretty much in line with the Smashbox program and really even better than the Sephora Beauty Insider program.

Disclosure: This post is ridden with referral codes for the Tarte Rewards Program - I <3 Tarte anyway, but wouldn't be unhappy (ok, I'd be very happy) if you signed up for the program using my link. =)

Review: B-Liv By Cellnique

I've been putting off doing this review because let's face it, how many of us really want to post photos on the internet of our bare faces and otherwise, how else would you see if the products worked or not?

I did a Pre-Review of the products of my first impressions, ingredient lists and prices here

I've been using the products for over month and I wanted to share my thoughts and some before and after pictures.

The 3 products that I was sent were:
Off with those heads - I'm honestly not sure if this did anything. I still am getting white heads and black heads. The one thing I noticed was that my breakouts weren't as severe during my TOTM but they didn't go away completely. I still get breakouts along my chin and jawline and I am still getting clogged pores on my nose. I found on some days this made my eyes water but not everyday and some days I got a slight tingling sensation but again, not everyday.

Shrink and Tighten +
This was a kind of weird treatment. Again, I'm not sure if this did much, though I must say that my dry cheeks, well they aren't dry anymore. I'm not sure if I can attribute this to this product or the moisturizer below. This also stings terribly if you have any broken skin at all, which wasn't pleasant and it warms on your skin upon contact.

Submerge Me
I liked this moisturizer the first time I used it and I continue to really like it a month later. This does a great job of hydrating my skin, it doesn't cause foundation to ball up, it applies really nice on top of it. I think this may have been the item to get rid of the intense dryness I was experiencing on my cheeks. I have about a third of the product left so not too bad when it comes to cost per use. I only need a few small pumps to apply on my entire face and I've used this twice daily.

Before - June 28 2010

After - August 1 2010
Sorry for the slightly different lighting.

All pictures are clickable but dear lord, please don't!

The only obvious change is I finally got my brows shaped (thank goodness)! I think my cheeks/nose are ever so slightly less red and they are certainly less dry but other than that, I don't see a huge difference in my skin. Both sets of photos were taken without an once of makeup though I was wearing some clear lip balm in the second set of shots. Do you see a major change?

For me, I'll continue using the products until they get used up but to me they are not worth an extra $150+ added to my skincare routine (since I'll still need to shell out for cleanser, toner, exfoliants etc). I'm very happy that my skin isn't as dry but since I tried out all the products together, I'm not sure which item (though my guess is the moisturizer) helped that.

I will say that this is the first time in ages, I've been really good about keeping up with a regimen. I think I may have skipped the full routine only a handful of times in over a month (that's really good for me!).

Like many of the reviewers, B-Liv by Cellnique is...

We would also like to offer free samples of Off with those heads, 3ml to your readers (first 50 readers). They can email their full name and mailing/shipping address to fbfreesample@blivskin.com with the subject jeweledthumb.blogspot.com. Readers that send in their blog’s url, they might stand a chance to do a product review. Valid ends 1 week after your product review being post and sample delivery within 4 – 6 weeks.

So there you go.

Disclosure: These products were sent by the brand's PR for review purposes. I am not receiving any monetary compensation for posting about these products and though I was asked to do only 1 review, it was my choice to share my initial thoughts on the products and do 2. Any question, ask! I want to be as transparent as possible with these sorts of things.
